Chris casually mentioned a friend of his had called about a week earlier letting him know that he knew of a family trying to sell their home but had not listed it yet.
And then it all began....
We hopped in the car that night not expecting much. The friend sounded a bit hesitant saying that the house needed some fixing up. Oh how bad could it be, I thought. We'd seen a million houses by now so we kinda knew what to expect as far as projects needing to be done. We had a little stack of savings in the bank so a little fixing up would probably be no big deal.
We pulled up to the home and something felt different. The dad greeted us and was more than kind to show us around. We walked in and I just knew! It may sound silly, but it was as if the walls spoke to me begging us to buy it and restore it to its once lovely state. It was the feeling every homeowner talks about when you just "know." I watched Chris as we walked from room to room and could see that he was not impressed one bit. We kindly thanked the dad and walked to the car. The doors closed and I squealed....I WANT IT! My sweet husband was shocked to say the least. After all the homes we'd looked at over our 2 year search, this was by far the most dirty, outdated, neglected and quite honestly, the most unsanitary of them all. But all I could see was the potential. I promised Chris I would make it beautiful.
Long story short...
We made the offer and now 3 months later we are almost ready to move in!!
Pictures to come.
